Gallaher International:
Point of Sale Artwork Generation Application

Gallaher International is one of the world's largest tobacco manufacturers and wholesalers. Having just rebranded its point of sale material across all its fifteen brands, it needed an efficient method of rolling the designs out across Europe. The solution we built was a CD-ROM application, distributed along with a 'Brand Guidelines' book, to all of its marketing offices across Europe. Through a simple five-step process the application gives the user the ability to generate high quality point of sale printed material that complies with each country's strict tobacco advertising laws, for each of the fifteen brands, and at any output size. The user simply selects the brand, country, dimensions, selects whether to include a promotional message, and simply clicks 'download'. Behind the scenes, the application then cross references a country law matrix, selects the relevant 'fluid' template and brand assets, generates a concise brief for the designers and copies all the files needed to the user's computer. This process allows consistent artwork to be produced, in a matter of minutes, giving a real return on investment in design costs and legal costs in the review process.

Stellent:
Conference Broadcasting Application

Stellent is the leading global provider of content/knowledge management software solutions. Like many global companies with great stories to tell, it runs large conferences and exhibitions where industry experts, partners, clients and prospective clients share their insights. These events are expensive to set-up, and due to time constraints and location it is not always convenient for people to attend. Stellent approached Digital Marmalade to provide a solution where by interested parties could 'attend' the events remotely. The web based application that we provided allows the user to navigate through the conference agenda and select topics of interest. They can then watch streaming videos of the presentation while synchronised slide graphics and user notes are displayed. It is an elegant solution which can easily be repurposed for digital communications, training or knowledge management.

Cap Gemini Ernst & Young:
Brand Asset Management Application

Cap Gemini Ernst & Young is one of the largest management and IT consulting firms in the world. We were approached at the time of the Gap Gemini and Ernst & Young company merger. The merger resulted in a new brand identity for the company. We were asked to provide a solution for managing and deploying the company's marketing assets on a global scale. Our approach to this project was to develop a 'wizard' based asset deployment tool on CD-ROM. By following a step-by-step selection process the user can produce branded brochures, fact sheets, newsletters, and business cards to name a few. As the user selects the colours that they want, types in text and picks images from the asset library, an on-screen mock-up displays, showing how the document will look. The user can then download all of the corresponding templates and files, along with jpegs of the mock-ups and a full brief to pass on to the design department. The process is quick and simple and should ensure that across the globe, all materials comply with the brand guidelines. A full interactive brand guideline section is also included where logos, colour palettes, templates, high resolution images and fonts can also be individually downloaded.

JTL:
Web Content Management Application

JTL is the country's leading training provider to the building services sector, offering advanced apprenticeships in a number of vocations. We were approached by JTL to develop five websites for the company, each catering to a different audience. The completed websites consist of a massive nine-hundred pages. With this amount of data, a robust content management system was required to enable non-technical staff within the organisation to simply administer and maintain the website. To tick these boxes, we deployed the Marmalade Suite CMS, a Content Management System and website framework that we've been developing over the last few years. It has allowed us to build powerful websites that are easy to manage. The Marmalade Suite is effectively a collection of 'Content Blocks' and 'Developer's Blocks' with optional 'bolt-on' modules for common website functions, all accessible through a password protected web interface. This approach allows IT department's full access to develop within the framework, and also gives marketing departments the ability to independently update content.
