About Digital Marmalade

1997: In the beginning
Digital Marmalade began as a joint venture between Marcus Brennand and New Solutions, a marketing consultancy.
New Solutions specialise in strategically shaping businesses and brands. Marcus set up its in-house multimedia department, which worked on delivering research findings and ideas in a more engaging way. This service soon became popular with clients.
As demand for new media grew, so did the viability of separating the offer and setting up a new business. As a result, in December 1997, Digital Marmalade was born. We left our lovely New Solutions offices in Soho and moved to the Marmalade Studios in Beckenham, South London.

1999: Finding our feet
In the early days, we were very much about making attractive looking interactive presentations, and pushing the 'wonders of the internet' on uninterested clients who didn't see a need to be online. We were a team of three people working on relatively small projects for clients such as Barclays, Nokia, Sony Music and Allied Domecq.
In 1999 a media frenzy surrounding all things 'web' related engulfed the industry. Suddenly everyone wanted a website. We did well in this period, and invested in new staff and equipment. The Digital Marmalade team grew from three people to ten, and we increased our offer to include video, audio and 3D. In early 2000, Digital Marmalade and New Solutions joined the Omnicom Group, one of the world's largest marketing and communications companies.

2003: The headline
In the years that followed, we found that we were being asked to devise more and more sophisticated online solutions. Combining our design and video skills with our application building abilities sets us apart from most web companies. We deliver the full digital solution powerful, rich media applications with great engaging design and user experience.
Some of the applications we've built include an artwork generation application for Gallaher International, a brand asset deployment tool for Cap Gemini, and a domain name and online campaign management system for PartyGaming.
In 2005, our four year association with Omnicom came to and end. We promoted Dean to the board as Technology Director, with a view to developing the Marmalade Suite. This is a suite of applications built to help companies manage all of the digital aspects of their business, from web content management to digital TV broadcasting. The larger websites that we develop are mostly built on the suite's foundations, and we are developing new modules and functions all the time.

2009: The headline
Where will we be in the next three years? Well, we're hoping to relocate the Marmalade Studios to London Bridge in the near future, where we can continue to grow the business and work with great clients on innovative projects.
One thing that's not changed over the years is the essence of Digital Marmalade - the team. Everyone has diverse and complimentary skills and a belief that together we can really achieve something. The spirit within the company is what we're most proud of - it's honest, fun, enthusiastic and professional and long may it continue.
