Project Introduction
Stellent commissioned Digital Marmalade to produce
a CD-ROM showcasing its unique content management
software. This was to be done using existing materials
which had previously been deployed during road show
on-stage presentations, along with videos of these
presentations. Our brief: Allow our sales team to
be everywhere, all of the time.
Project Build
Our approach was to build an interactive system which
would display both a video of the speaker and the
corresponding visuals of the presentation. This allowed
the user to get a real perspective on what the speaker
was trying to say. A key element of this project is
the ability to skip to chapters in each presentation,
meaning that the user could ‘jump’ to
any point of the video by using clickable thumbnails
of the slides making this a really dynamic way of
delivering the presentations.
In addition, it was important that the text on the
disk was relevant and up-to-date. The architecture/functionality
of the CD-ROM allowed for dynamic text updates. Which
effectively means text from notepad files are automatically
imported into the application when it is opened. This
allows Stellent to easily change/update information
with no production skills, thus extending the shelf-life
of the product indefinitely. This method also allows
for content to be translated into different languages
without further costs.
To fully understand the benefits of this disk one
needs to see it in action, please drop us a line and
we will be happy to demo it to you in person, or pop
a copy in the post for your attention.
The net result of our efforts was that Stellent were
so pleased they commissioned us to create an online
version of the presentation.
