Project Introduction
To establish, develop and produce an online brand
and e-commerce enabled website, controlled through
a Content Management System to support Heavenly
Feet's planned mail-order operation and retail
business.
Project Build
Heavenly Feet approached us, in June 2004, to help
them develop a new ecommerce website to sell footwear
and home ware items.
Prior to the site's development, we looked at Heavenly Feet's planned mail order business to ensure the site would truly support this model. Working through this process provided us with a series of 'business rules', product categories, fulfilment and after-sales support processes.
Scalability was an issue, it was essential that new products and categories could seamlessly be included and managed. Heavenly Feet wanted an ecommerce site that delivered the high service levels offered by its offline business.
Digital Marmalade built a bespoke application which features the following:-
- a full Content Management System (categories, products, prices, one-off or continuing lines, accounts, shipping)
- a scalable architecture with the ability to theme product categories and departments
- e-commerce facilities with live stock feeds and secure checkout
- automated logistics and billing facilities (confirmation emails, product tracking, reporting, invoicing, picking notes, return slips, supplier ledgers, mailing lists)
The resulting website www.heavenlyfeet.co.uk launched in December 2004. The site is attractive, the products are presented clearly with full specifications and the ordering process is intuitive and secure. Confirmation emails are automatically generated and the whole fulfilment process integrates smoothly with Heavenly Feet's existing infrastructure.
