Project Introduction
Following the completion of Stellent's content management
CD-ROM - Digital Marmalade was commissioned to develop
an online portal, allowing users secure access to
client presentations. These presentations are delivered
online, synchronising synchronised presenter videos
with onscreen slides. The key to the project was
to deliver chapterised, high impact video and graphics
in an instant over the internet!
Project Build
In the initial planning process we had the option of delivering the videos via streaming or progressive downloads. The project required instant access to the corresponding video by clicking on a thumbnail image of each of the presentation slides. For this reason we chose to go down the true video streaming route.
Macromedia's newly updated Flash video format provided us with a high
quality, small file size, streaming video format. The videos produced
for the CD-ROM were re-encoded for the web, then using a combination
of Flash and HTML, a slick web portal was built. The Flash application
environment allowed us to time-code and chapterise the whole event,
clickable thumbnails are used to navigate to any part of each presentation.
The result is an intuitive, high impact video delivery system, which has the potential to easily grow and become an essential part of the Stellent sales process - we believe that the era of true video on demand is getting ever closer, the potential of which will change the way we all do business in the future. So take a look for yourself, and imagine how similar combinations of video and slides can assist your organisation in training, sales, project archiving etc.
