    Local Government Play Pacman

  • The Local Government Authority (LGA) is the umbrella group for the fifty regional councils in the UK. The LGA were touring the country in a bid to highlight what regional councils could offer the unemployed to assist them in career development. This tour included exhibitions, so Digital Marmalade were called in to build a Pacman style game to be played on kiosks to ‘draw’ people into the stand.

This was a great project. The brief was simply to build a Pacman style game based on a map of the UK – and to make it fun!

The game is controlled by a joystick, and follows the format of the original 80’s game. The player controls the Pacman and attempts to pick up the stars of the LGA logo which are placed around a map of the UK. Quirky music adds to the fun. When the user completes the game, one of five videos is randomly played informing the user of one of The LGA initiatives available.

Top scores are recorded, and at the end of each day a prize is given to the winner.
