DM get active in Kent

The Team

The Digital Marmalade team headed down to Kent last weekend for a couple of days of activities and bonding. With one very new and one nearly new addition, it was a good time to get out of the city and get to know each other a bit better.

We rented a beautiful house through Mulberry Cottages called Birch Pavilion, a stunning, huge place just outside Tunbridge Wells, with an open fire, games room, and gorgeous vaulted double height living room - lucky us!

Day one was a full on day of team building activities with Arena Pursuits. We started with 'team tasks' where we were split into two teams and had to build rafts, get across a minefield, get a bucket on a pole and get blindfolded 'sheep' into the pen.

We are a competitive lot here at DM, but we had to work together and communicate to solve the puzzles and complete the tasks, and in the end, we came out at 2 wins each!

In the afternoon, in the torrential rain, we did clay pigeon shooting, with Jeremy and Tom coming out joint top, followed by driving around a VERY muddy track on dune buggy style carts called Honda Pilots. It was a brilliant, fun day, and we all returned exhausted and ready for a beer.

On Sunday, we went to Fenton's Rink to try our hands at Curling. After being shown the ropes, we were able to play a few games - it's harder than it looks! But really fun, especially when people fall over.

All in all, it was a great weekend and we all got to know each other and the newbies a bit better, and see how we work as a team. We even have some of the falling over captured in slow-mo video (thanks Marcus) so won't forget our foray to Kent in a hurry.
