The Brief
Digital Marmalade was once again commissioned by strategic marketing consultants New Solutions, this time to produce a short video for Korn Ferry. The main objective of the piece was to inspire European senior partners about the company's new brand positioning, and to ultimately leave all viewers feeling positive and challenged.
The Solution
Korn Ferry is the premier provider of executive human capital solutions, with services ranging from corporate governance and CEO recruitment to executive search, middle-management recruitment, strategic management assessment and executive coaching and development.
New Solutions supplied us with the key bullet points, quotes and titles as well as suggesting imagery to be associated with these messages. We elaborated on these ideas in the form of a storyboard, selecting the strongest assets and matching them with the corresponding titles.
We used this preliminary stage to plan possible effects and animation and also sourced a soundtrack. New Solutions approved a rousing, progressive classical piece that would break halfway through to coincide with the presentation's change in pace and emphasise Korn/Ferry's ultimate message and different expressions of 'Delivering Leadership'.
All of the assets were prepared and treated by our designers, who produced a clean design and layout for each slide for use in After Effects as animated sequences. Once these were completed the sequences were arranged and transitions created before being synced up in time with the music. Finally, the video was rendered and imported into PowerPoint, ready for immediate use on CD-ROM. The finished video was encoded and compressed for delivery on a DVD.
The finished piece is another example of how simple but carefully selected source material can be utilised in a dramatic and emotive fashion. Our self-imposed brief was to go for maximum impact but with minimum turnaround time, and to this end we feel that we have produced a piece that is a cut above conventional PowerPoint slides or mood videos.
