The Brief
Barker Gillette invited Digital Marmalade to design and build it an award winning new website. The firm’s interesting case history and diverse range of partners sets it apart from other law practices, and we wanted the new website to focus on this. We decided that the site didn’t need to be overly formal and corporate as this didn't really reflect the team at Barker Gillette.
The Solution
The new Barker Gillette website was completed just two months after we received the project brief. It accurately reflects the Barker Gillette ethos and positions it as a friendly but highly experienced, professional law firm - highlighting the warm approach it takes to its clients without undermining the professionalism of its work. Since going live, the site has helped to dramatically raise the firm's profile on the internet, and within the courtroom.
We were determined that the new site would be as unique as the team at Barker Gillette. Just one of the innovations we brought to the project was an 'Alter Ego' area of the site. This section allows the user to find out more about the team at Barker Gillette, breaking down the perceptions that prospective clients may have of lawyers being ‘stuffy’ and ‘intimidating’. We’ve used photographs of the staff outside of work, included their answers to questions relating to their lives and experiences, and added a short film of the senior partners introducing themselves and explaining their services. All of this helps the user to get to know the staff better - as people, as well as lawyers.
Also detailed, of course, are full explanations of the firm's services and contact details, web published news, white papers and legal advice. We commissioned photographs of the team and placed them across the site to further personalise the user experience, and reflect the company’s friendly face.
Barker Gillette won the Law Society’s Law Management award for ‘the best marketing initiative by a smaller practice’ in 2005. Our initial brief was to build Barker Gillette an awarding winning website within its industry, so this accolade is further proof that we met our brief.
Project News
Nigel Forsyth“We briefed Digital Marmalade in the summer of last year to design a website which would be fresh, innovative and humorous, whilst still retaining a professional edge. The end result completely exceeded our expectations. We are delighted with the finished product and have had an overwhelmingly favourable response from our clients and contacts. The website has proved to be a very valuable marketing tool. Digital Marmalade was an absolute joy to work with, creative, humorous, adaptable, and at all times extremely professional.”
