Hornbill Systems

Hornbill Systems was founded in 1995, and delivers market-leading Service Management solutions that enable organisations to automate business processes and provide first-class customer service.

Over the years, Hornbill Systems has matured into a global leader in Service Management solutions. As the company’s digital design agency, we were invited to give it a total brand makeover to coincide with its 10th anniversary. As part of this, we completely redesigned the company’s website to bring it into line with all of the brand’s collateral – from printed brochures and stationary to video.

The Solution

After working with Hornbill on a number of different multimedia projects over the years, Digital Marmalade were appointed as its sole digital design agency for all future marketing and design projects.

In 2005, on Hornbill’s 10th anniversary, Digital Marmalade was invited to give the company a brand makeover. This included a complete redesign of its existing website. This was no small task as the rebranding needed to be rolled out across all of the company’s collateral, from print right into multimedia assets.

The first thing that  we did was to clarify Hornbill’s offer, positioning the solutions as both stand-alone products and, more importantly, enterprise wide solutions. We then categorised these into ‘Employee’, ‘Customer’, ‘Business’ and ‘Industry Focused’ solution groups, each of which were then given a unique colour and logo. These colours were rolled out to the website, printed media and added to the 3D product diagrams which were developed to explain Hornbill’s products as clearly and as simply as possible.

We worked alongside Hornbill’s talented programmers to build a graphically rich site, built on a powerful content management system. It’s a two tier website. The first tier presents the solution, the products and company information and the second tier, which is only accessible if you log in, provides industry white papers and other such valuable information. We’ve also included a number of detailed case studies, videos, diagrams and a series of web-ready brochures which the user can view and download if they chose to.

The finished site has been a great success. Since it went live we have continued to update and maintain it, replacing and adding graphics and content when changes need to be made.
