Medlink

Medlink offer courses to prospective medical students studying in either year 12 or year 13. The four day course provides delegates with the opportunity to listen to and discuss medical school admissions and careers in medicine.

Workshop, Medlink’s parent company, offers a number of different courses in different vocations. It wanted to develop its brand online, and in doing so generate additional sales. The aim was to standardise the brand across all of its course’s websites, starting with its most successful course – Medlink.

The Solution

With a project like this, it is really important to work with the client do define their ideas. Medlink had a lot of plans which needed to be pulled together and actualised. Workshop, which is the parent company of Medlink, offers a range of courses in different vocations and the idea was that eventually all of the courses would have their own sites, each following the same format. We created a brand identity for the company, starting with Medlink.

As Medlink is the most popular of Workshop’s courses, the first step was to build it a client-facing website. The company had no assets beyond its logo, so we used this as the starting point. We created a really striking look and feel which could be used and extended across all of Medlink’s collateral. The website was built with the idea that it could be repurposed for different areas of the business. We incorporated the site into Medlink’s existing e-commerce package, ensuring that no additional investment was needed.

After the Medlink site went live, we started work on building a site for Workshop. We used the same template, but created a slightly different look and feel. The brand’s identity was really starting to strengthen. When Medlink then branched out to the US, we were invited to build it a comprehensive SEO friendly website for Medlink US.

The main piece of work that we did with Medlink was the creation of Medlinkspace. This is a social networking area of the original Medlink site, which is available to course delegates when they log in. Delegates can create personal pages and interact with each other on the bulletin boards and forums. They can use their profiles to support their university applications, too.

Medlinkspace has been a great success. The rising popularity of social networking websites has meant that this innovation has made Medlink a far more enhanced proposition, and the company continues to go from strength to strength.
