s2s had a website which was in desperate need of innovation and redesign. As part of Cosmos’ plan to migrate all of its bookings away from high street travel agents to online, the decision was taken that the s2s site should be completely redesigned and developed to the standard of the new Digital Marmalade designed Cosmos website.

The Solution

Following on from the success of the work that we did for the Cosmos Holidays website, we were asked to design and deploy a website for somewhere2stay. The site needed to have a look and feel that tied into the other sites in the Cosmos Group, but also had its own separate identity. We achieved this by using a very similar layout, but a completely different colour scheme. Instead of the grays and blues that were predominant in the Cosmos site we used vibrant yellows, oranges and browns.

The site features an extensive search function, which allows the user to filter using a number of criteria. There are offers grids, special offers and promotions pods for late deals, as well as promotion pods which s2s can use to generate advertising revenue. We’ve developed extensive destination, region and tour guides, making the site a brilliant research tool and ensuring that the user has all the information that they need. Attractive photographs perfectly complement the design and colour schemes and really help to sell the locations.

A major part of the site build was the inclusion of hotel videos. These offer the user a great interactive insight into the lodgings and really whet the appetite. There are also detailed ‘Villas’ and a ‘City Breaks’ sections. As well as the accommodation only specific booking path, the user has the ability to book transfers and car hire independently of accommodation, giving them real independence in getting everything for their holiday that they need – on their terms.

The website also has its own travel agent’s area, which can be accessed by the agent if they log in using their ID and password. Prices are then adjusted according to the agent’s agreed discount rate. This allows agent’s to sell directly through the s2s channel.
