Acorn Business Supplies Ltd was established by managing director, John Harrison, in 1983. From humble beginnings the team at Acorn has grown considerably - the workforce has increased from five to fifty one staff and from one delivery van to a fleet of fifteen!
Acorn commissioned Digital Marmalade to build it a new website. It wanted a simple website which explains Acorn’s services, which range from design, planning and installation of offices to the rental and sale of stationary supplies. The site gives a flavour of what products are available, however the idea behind this project was not to build an e-commerce site – it is not a direct sales channel. The website’s purpose is to bring in new business, and to be a place for customers to log in and place their orders. Clients need to have an account manager to reap the full benefits of Acorn’s unparalleled level of customer service, and although the company wanted to take a greater step into the online arena it also wanted to continue to offer a personal level of service to clients that cannot be achieved through running an e-commerce business.
We used a traditional, clean and corporate design to reflect the very professional nature of Acorn. Attractive images of the staff and Acorn offices help to give the company a friendly face and personality. We sourced images of the products available creating an online catalogue for the user to browse through.
The finished site is now online and we feel that it will be a significant leap forward for Acorn, opening up a whole new market.
