Digital Marmalade has completed the website design and development for architects Hazle McCormack & Young. HMY is a well established chartered architectural practice, working on high value projects encompassing residential, regeneration, education, arts and leisure, health and welfare developments.
HMY needed a site that “reflects the design market” it is in. It needed to be easy to navigate, elegant to use, and easily updateable. HMY also asked us to also freshen up the corporate identity of the practice. Following a full service audit, it became clear that HMY’s strengths lie in the company’s vast experience across the field of architecture, so we made its huge portfolio of work the main focus of the site.
Our approach was to build a database-driven site. This allowed us to develop an advanced search engine, enabling the user to easily find and view projects that are relevant to them. A Content Management System (CMS) was also integrated to ensure that staff at HMY could upload, edit and delete new project case studies and news articles.
As with most multimedia projects, we were tasked with developing the brand online. We chose to predominantly use neutral grays, because they allow the vibrant colours of the photographs of HMY designed buildings to really stand out. The resulting design is a sleek, stylish and modern – perfectly echoing the company’s work within the market and strengthening its online identity.
