Digital Marmalade has completed the design and development of Gecko Direct's new corporate website.

Gecko Direct offer a wide range of print and marketing related services. The Yorkshire based company is the highest ranked print related company in the country. Gecko wanted a ‘professional’ web site to promote the services it offers. Whilst being interesting and informative, it needed to be simple to navigate and fast loading.

The project was split into two distinct parts. The first was to build a site aimed at current and potential customers, explaining Gecko’s services, culture and ability. The second part was to enhance the website with practical business functionality.

With a starting brief of making an animated gecko run across the screen, we broke the site down into manageable modules – namely static HMTL, flash elements, programming and business solutions.

We worked hard to visually present something that looked professional and at the same time reflected the fact that Gecko doesn’t take itself too seriously – in line with its corporate culture.

A back-end publishing tool was developed to allow the non-technical members of staff to upload case studies to the site, and control published information without any propriety software requirements or technical knowledge. A remote client sign-off facility was built to enable staff at Gecko to upload files for specific clients to sign-off work in progress, an FTP area was built to allow seamless transfer of large files to and from their client base.

The business solutions developed presented Gecko as an experienced agency which take the hassle out of complex tasks, and in doing so save their clients' money.

We’ve always put off putting together our own corporate website, thinking that it would be too much hassle. As we go through the process, I can’t believe that we felt that way – the advice, help and indeed look that Digital Marmalade have put together for us has far exceeded our expectations.
