Digital Marmalade's Dean Layton-James wins at National Archery Championships!

Our very own Dean Layton-James has proven that his skills go way beyond programming and coding, with two great wins in national archery competitions!

On February 15th, Dean won the Silver Medal at the EFAA (English Field Archery Association) Indoor Championships in Milton Keynes! There were over sixty archers shooting at the event.

If that isn’t enough, a week later he won the Gold Medal, National Title and Barnett International Trophy at the GNAS (The Grand National Archery Society) National Indoor Championships. GNAS is the officially recognised organisation in the UK for archery, and Dean is now the National Champion in the Compound Limited division. Not bad considering that nearly three hundred archers entered the championships!

GNAS have now disbanded the Compound Ltd division, so Dean will remain the undefeated champion.

We managed to pin him down for a few minutes to talk to him about his archery success…

We would like to wish him huge congratulations!

Dean with his trophy
I’m really pleased with my performance this year and I’ve already achieved one of my goals which is to win a National Title.  After a 5 year break from Archery I started up again last year (2008) and took everything back to basics, last year was my settling in period and this year (2009) is my serious competitive year. I’ve applied the same discipline and commitment to my archery as I do to my working life.
