Spirit of London Awards launched with support from the national press
Tue 4 Aug 2009
Today sees the press launch of the inaugural Spirit of London Awards. Working closely with the organisers over a number of months, Digital Marmalade have designed, created and established a brand for the awards. We've created the website, logo and trophy design, consulting on the venture's digital strategy from the go.
Dubbed by the press as 'the Oscars for young people', the awards focus on the positive contributions made by London's young people, and recognise the city's role models. Supported by celebrities and politicians alike – from Gordon Brown to Rio Ferdinand – the Spirit of London Awards were set up by the Damilola Taylor Trust in response to the appalling number of London’s teenagers that fall victim to violence. The aim is to draw the spotlight away from the youth who commit these atrocious crimes, on to those who made positive contributions which often go unnoticed.
The Sun newspaper, which backs the awards, gave the launch a full page feature. The London Paper chose to do the same – both featuring the Digital Marmalade designed logo! This press support has raised the awards' profile massively.
